How to set SwiftDial as the homepage in Vivaldi

By default Vivaldi diesn't allow extensions to control its homepage or new tab.

To enable this, go to vivaldi://settings/tabs/ and in the New Tab Page section check Start Page and Controlled by Extension.

Next, go to vivaldi://settings/general/ and in the Homepage section check Specific Page and in the text field enter chrome://newtab.

Then, in the Startup with section check Homepage.

How to set SwiftDial as the homepage in Kiwi

Kiwi doesn’t automatically replace its default homepage, so you need to do it yourself.

Open the browser menu, go to Settings and then to Homepage.

Enter chrome://newtab into the text field.

How to set SwiftDial as the homepage in Firefox for Android before v79

Right after the installation, when the tab with SwiftDial is opened, be sure to copy its address.

Open the browser menu, go to Settings, then to General, then to Home.

There, check Also use for new tabs and tap Set a Homepage.

In the opened dialog check Custom, paste the address you copied into the text field and tap OK.

How to use SwiftDial in Firefox for Android after v79

At the time of writing you can only install non-default extensions in the Nightly version of Firefox for Android.

First you need to create your own addons collection that will later replace the one preinstalled in the browser.

Don't forget to add SwiftDial to this collection.

Make sure to write down your user ID and collection ID.

In Firefox for Android Nightly open the browser menu, go to Settings, then to About Firefox Nightly.

Here, tap the Firefox logo five times to enable the hidden Firefox settings.

Go back to Settings, then tap the Custom Add-on collection.

In the opened window put your user ID into the first text field and your collection ID into the second and tap OK.

Go back to the browser homepage, open the browser menu and go to Add-ons.

Find SwiftDial and tap the plus sign to install it.

On the next screen do not check Allow in private browsing. This is very important for the next step (you can enable it later from Add-ons). Tap Okay, Got it.

Go back and open the tab drawer. Navigate to the tab with SwiftDial.

Here, open the browser menu and either add SwiftDial to your bookmarks, top sites, collections, or home screen of your device. Firefox for Android doesn’t allow replacing the default homepage, so these are the only ways you can bring up SwiftDial for now.
